Neem Tree with Special Powers

The Neem Tree, which is also called “Azadirachta indica”, has helped many sick people for ages. Especially herbal medicine from asian countries has used this tree to make different medicins for treatment and prevention of various diseases. 

The tree is edible. It is recommended consuming it in the form of a paste, in tea or just chewing a twig freshly plucked from the tree.

The tree is found in tropical and semitropical regions. Its a big tree and fast-growing tree standing 20–23 meters tall. It as green leafs and makes green fruits, which turn more yellowish when ripening. The herbal medicine from this tree is mostly from bark, seeds & leaves.

The trees role as health-promoting effect is attributed because it is very rich source of antioxidant, inhibition of bacterial growth, and modulation of genetic pathways.

The leaves are known to have antibacterial and antifungal properties. Applying and massaging Neem oil and Neem leaf extracts directly to the affected fungal area two to three times a day can help fight fungal infections. Neem also contains a lot of flavanoids and various other ingredients that play an important role in inhibition of cancer development. A high flavonoid intake may be correlated with a decreased risk of cancer. Other results suggest that flavonoids may exert beneficial effects for athletes’ performances.

Fun Fact: The seeds hold an important active chemical compound which is called Azadirachtin. It is a white microcrystalline solid with a strong garlicky or sulfurous odor. This odor is probably what repels insects. This means, that It has insecticidal qualities and has been proven to be effective against at least 200 insect species. This could be your natural insect-spray.
