Turmeric for Better Skin

  • PLANTS

Evidence shows that turmeric products and supplements, both oral and topical, may provide therapeutic benefits for skin health. Turmeric is a commonly used spice throughout the world, which has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects on the human body. The root has also a lot of antioxidant, vitamins & minerals. Growing evidence shows that an active component of turmeric, curcumin, can be used medically to treat a variety of dermatologic/skin diseases.

The skin is a physical barrier that protects the body from the external environment. Most people in our modern world are exposed for different micro particles, bacteria, pollution and chemicals, which means it gets more and more difficult to have healthy skin. The immune system fights against attacks from environmental threats. Which means immune reactions can cause chronic inflammatory skin diseases.

In studies there has been findings on positive health effects when you eat turmeric, but also some results has been shown when putting it on skin. Skin conditions like acne, alopecia, atopic dermatitis, pruritus and psoriasis could show less symptoms if having turmeric in diet or/and on skin.

It is recommended to have turmeric in your diet, also if you are an athlete or do a lot of fitness. If is strong enough to be a important factor to repair skin, then it is also good for helping the immune system with small sports injuries.
