More and more science are made on mindfulness & meditation. All of the science are showing us that with using mindfulness we can reduce symptoms of stress, anxiety and other nervous disorders. The science is getting so strong, that a survey was made on doctors in the UK, to get their view on this more spiritual subject. 72% of the asked doctors though that it would be helpful for their patients with mental health problems to learn mindfulness meditation skills.
The University of Pennsylvania has included a centre for Mindfulness in their programs. They made a study on some people taking a eight-week Mindfulness course. They found out that the participants would have 30% reduction in Fatigue. They would also have a 52% reduction in depression, and an increase in vigorous, which would help with more energy & enthusiasm.
With these findings it will make great sense to implement mindfulness training in sports teams. In general would all athletes benefit of learning about mindfulness. Athletes live under great pressure almost everyday. Their lifestyle is a performance lifestyle, where they are always thriving to be better. With this lifestyle they will hit lots of highs, but definitely also feel low, on moments they don’t succeed like wished. This means that athletes could be dealing with depression and anger with in their profession.
With Mindfulness athletes would get a tool to deal with these hard moments. They would find a way to have more acceptance, where they can bear an experience more lightly, and to let the bad feelings go away quickly. Mindfulness would help with a greater clarity on what’s is happening in our minds, which would help the athlete in recovering after a defeat better.
